Hurstville Aquatic Centre is a really solid local spot with a lot to offer. The main pools are excellent, and we've found the swimming lessons to be well-run and effective for the kids. The gym is spacious, and there's a good variety of equipment, making it a decent place for a workout. The staff are generally friendly and helpful, which always makes a difference. However, one area that consistently needs more attention, especially for hygiene, is the cleanliness of the bathing facilities – specifically the showers, changing rooms, and the wet areas around the spas, steam room, and sauna. While the main areas are generally well-maintained, these high-traffic, wet zones often feel like they could use a much more rigorous and frequent cleaning schedule. For a public facility, especially one focused on health and wellness, a higher standard of cleanliness in these specific areas would significantly improve the overall experience and comfort for all users. More effort really needs to be put into this aspect. Despite this, it's still a valuable community asset with good programs and facilities. Addressing the hygiene in the bathing areas would easily push it to a full 5-star rating. I'm hopeful they'll focus on this going forward!

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all the female staff this afternoon who came to my aid when I fainted in the changing room. Your care, support, and attentiveness meant so much in that vulnerable moment. You patiently asked all the right questions, making sure I was okay and didn’t miss any details about my experience. Your professionalism, kindness, and encouragement helped me feel significantly better—even without needing ambulance assistance. Thank you again for going above and beyond. I truly appreciate everything you did.❤️

I really frustrating that the instructor Julie treated people unfairly. I know the man who is always asking for the fans to be turned on—he's one of the very few out of a class of 40 who insists on it. Interestingly, he never turns on the fans at the back of the room, likely because his friends sit there and don’t like the fans. It’s not fair for the instructor Julie to cater to the preferences of one person while ignoring the majority. A fair approach would be to respect the majority’s needs, but Julie chose to do the opposite. Her reaction to the woman who turned off one of the fans was completely inappropriate—she acted as if she were yelling on the street. It wasn’t even a hot day; in fact, it was slightly cool. With the air conditioning on and two fans running, the room felt unnecessarily cold. I believe the woman who turned off one of the fans was completely reasonable. I also question Julie's professionalism. Warmer conditions help muscles become more pliable and flexible, which is important in yoga. If someone can’t tolerate a bit of warmth during practice, it might indicate that this style of exercise isn’t suitable for them. Julie’s attitude has made me decide not to attend her classes anymore.

Hurstville aquatic has clean and tidy warm shower and toilet facilities. Staff maintain the overall facilities clean and tidy with a constant morning, daily and nightly cleaning routine as I use it at various times through out the day from 5:30 am to when it closes at 8:45 pm. Although some people disrespect it and can't see where the rubbish bins are with a very few throwing the spa/sauna wrist bands on the floor of the mens shower facilities when a large bin is very visible. The pool water on cold winter mornings is luke warm and a comfort to swim in. The spa and sauna facilities are relaxing way to relieve stress after your lap swimming. For a public pool and gym facilities being completely covered in a luxurious structure I personally believe it is the only one in Sydney that provides this very good service. There are sometimes breakdowns in equipment but this is acceptable as it is open 15 hours a day 7 days a week and break downs are unavoidable. I think some people completely under rate this place and don't appreciate its value for money and excellent facilities. Not forgetting the facilities and life saving staff are extremely helpful and very accommodating.

I am extremely disappointed with the service here. The staff, especially the ladies at the front, are incredibly unhelpful and rude. Instead of assisting customers, they seem more interested in chatting with their friends and showing an attitude when asked for help. It honestly feels like they’re being punished for having to assist you. The front desk staff consists mostly of teenagers fresh out of high school who clearly need to learn professionalism. When you ask for anything, you’re met with a rude expression and zero willingness to help. It’s frustrating because we pay for the service weekly and don’t expect to be treated with such negativity. The staff really needs to learn the basics of customer service. Please consider hiring more mature staff, especially for the front desk, who understand the importance of customer care. This isn’t just my concern—many others feel the same way. Cut down on chatting with your mates and focus on providing better service. After all, you’re getting paid for it!
