Always an enjoyable experience driving out to the conveniently placed Thornleigh Driving Range! It’s a fantastic, well-established facility featuring a spacious mix of putt-putt and a two-story driving range area. It is perfect for any occasion, no matter the day or the weather, thanks to the great roof coverage on both tiers of the driving range.
The interactive, modern technology and screens are awesome for tracking your performance and ball movement in real-time. Plus, the friendly, passionate, and professional staff are always there to help you strive to be your best and elevate your game, whether you're a beginner or doing expert training. Top it off with a great gift shop featuring everything golf-related, and it’s just a place I love visiting!

If Steve’s goal is to make first-time customers feel uncomfortable, he’s doing a fantastic job.
I visited for the first time and simply misunderstood the “No golf bags past this point” sign. Instead of explaining the policy like any reasonable business owner would, the owner immediately spoke to me in an incredibly condescending and dismissive tone, repeatedly talking over me while I tried to explain that I was new and had misunderstood.
It’s one thing to have rules. It’s another thing to make first-time customers feel stupid for not already knowing them.
For a venue that seems to pride itself on being one of Sydney’s premier golf facilities, I’d expect the owner to understand that not everyone walking through the door is an experienced golfer. A simple “No worries, let me show you where to go” would have taken all of 10 seconds. Instead, I was made to feel uncomfortable before I’d even hit a single ball.
The rest of my session was overshadowed by how unwelcome I felt, and I couldn’t wait to leave.
Thankfully, there are plenty of other driving ranges in Sydney with great facilities and staff who actually know how to treat customers. I won’t be returning.

No tees allowed at a driving range — that alone tells you everything about how poorly this place is run.
The excuse from staff is that balls might go over the net and onto the road. If that’s genuinely a concern, then your setup is fundamentally flawed. Fix the net. Fix the design. Don’t push the problem onto paying customers.
Banning tees defeats the entire purpose of a driving range. You’re restricting how people practise, limiting basic shots, and turning what should be a simple experience into a frustrating one. It’s not safety — it’s a shortcut to avoid investing in proper infrastructure.
This is a classic example of a business choosing the cheapest, easiest option at the expense of customer experience. Instead of improving the facility, you impose rules that make the experience worse.
There are plenty of better-run ranges that don’t have this issue and don’t treat customers like this. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone serious about practising properly.

Unprofessional behavior from the Owner and Head Pro.
Last night, while I was practicing as a paying customer, the head pro abruptly intruded into my private bay without warning. He is not my coach and is a complete stranger to me. While I accepted the safety tip he gave, his subsequent action was completely unwarranted; he hit my hip with his golf shaft as he walked away. Regardless of his intent, being hit with a firm shaft caused physical pain and embarrassment in a public space.
What is even more shocking was his response. When I confronted him and demanded an apology, he laughed, dismissed the incident, and offered a sarcastic non-apology. He actually argued that it was "completely fine" because he used a golf club instead of his hands, and bragged that he hadn't received a single complaint in 45 years. He then ordered me to leave because he was too busy to deal with my complaint.
Looking at the other 1-star reviews, it is clear that this disrespectful behavior toward customers is a recurring pattern.
Being an owner or a head pro does not give anyone the right to barge into a customer's bay or touch them with a golf club. It is time to face reality. this behavior is entirely unacceptable.
