Fantastic zoo experience. Well-designed grounds. Plenty of places to stop, sit, and watch your favourite animals or enjoy some food.
Food options are what you would expect, but at the same time, they offer better value and quality than other similar venues.
You can do the zoo in two hours if you're short on time, but I would recommend planning for at least three hours. That said, you can easily spend longer sitting and enjoying the zoo grounds, or, if you're with kids, letting them play in the playground.
The zoo was easy to get around and highly accessible with no stairs.
Highly recommend taking the time to visit.

Beautiful zoo, a must visit place! The animals at the zoo look in wonderful healthy condition, their enclosures are well maintained and the animals receive so much enrichment. It's clear to see that this zoo actually cares about animal welfare and educating the public.
Facilities are kept clean, nothing is in a state of disrepair. The zoo has been designed with such an easy walking trail for people of all ages and abilities, stroller friendly for families with young children or those needing mobility aids. No big hills to climb, no narrow and winding pathways just a relaxing and easy to follow path that ensures you don't miss out on seeing any of the animals.
The enclosures have been designed so that you have several vantage points and the animals seem so close it's as though you could reach out and touch them.
The zoo offers "animal experiences" which require pre booking and are at an additional cost to zoo entry. These experiences are very reasonably priced and worth every single cent. You get to go behind the scenes and into animal enclosures, feed the animals and learn so much about the lengths the staff at the zoo go to to ensure that the animals are happy and healthy.
Food and beverages are of great quality and the coffee is top tier.
Restroom facilities are always clean and tidy, and it never gets so busy that you are walking through a sea of people. Also ample free parking on site.
Love this zoo, if I could give it 10 stars I would.

•I was amazed by how naturalistic the environments were, truly resembling the animals’ real homes and habitats. You can also see how well cared for the animals are, especially the older and injured ones.
•I usually feel uneasy about animals being kept in captivity, but seeing the vast spaces and the level of care at Sydney Zoo made me feel more at ease.

First time visiting and was impressed with the cleanliness, flat wide walking paths and general appearance. Lots of greenery/ trees and artistic installations throughout the walk. Saw plenty of animals in well equipped outdoor areas. Decent cafe available with some tables viewing meerkat enclosure directly. Mobility scooters for those who require them at the front entrance. Particular note are the very attractive indoor displays. A little pricey but the presentation,amenities and animals are worthy recipients of the dollars spent. All staff/ keepers we interacted with were very friendly and informative.

We attended this year’s GLOW (2026) and had such a lovely time. Our daughter has Down syndrome, so we always hope for a calm, steady experience that supports her sensory needs — and this event genuinely delivered.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt gentle and welcoming. The staff, the layout, the lighting, the amenities… everything ticked the boxes for families needing a slower pace or a more accessible experience. Our daughter absolutely thrived here, and that alone made the night a win for us.
The only thing worth noting — and I say this with kindness, not criticism — is the catering setup. There simply weren’t enough staff at the food and drink stands. We watched one single person juggling everything at the front: serving, making hot drinks, pouring warm wines, handling walk‑ups, and managing the constant flow of people. Then at the back, one solo worker fulfilling all the orders. It was a lot for them, and the wait times showed it.
Aside from that, the event itself was beautiful, inclusive, and thoughtfully paced. If you’re visiting with little ones, sensory‑sensitive kiddos, or disability needs, GLOW is absolutely worth it for a simple activity with fun rides that a paced for the younger demographic TICKED all the boxes for us.
